Appointments
The practice operates an appointment system for all members of the Primary Health Care Team. Patients are able to make an appointment by telephone, visiting the surgery in practice and via On-Line booking.
Appointments can be made up to one month in advance. Some appointments are released on a daily basis for emergency situations that cannot wait until the next routine appointment.
Please help the receptionist to help you by giving some brief details about your problem. This enables the receptionist to book an appointment with the most appropriate clinician.
Telephone Consultations
Telephone consultations can be used to discuss the results of tests and investigations and any other advice where an examination is not required.
The type of issues which could possibly be dealt with over the telephone are:
- To discuss outcomes of investigations and hospital appointments
- Some follow-up consultations
- Simple urinary tract infection (cystitis)
- Or in any other circumstances where an examination is not required
Please contact the surgery to book the consultation. The doctor will telephone you on your chosen contact number at the end of morning surgery.
Please be available to accept the call between the times that the receptionist will indicate the doctor or nurse will call.
Both GPs and Nurses have at least 3 telephone consultations available each day
Please consider a telephone consultation if you are requiring any form of advice
Home Visits
It has been traditional in the past for the GP to visit patients at home on request.
Modern practice recommends that the best place for a patient to be examined, investigated and treated is in the surgery. Home visits, except in exceptional cases, are for the housebound and seriously ill patient.
The usual practice when a visit is requested will be for the GP to ring back to discuss with the patient the need for a visit.
If you require a home visit, please telephone before 10.30am.
To assess the urgency, you will be asked to give some idea of the symptoms.
Urgent home visits can be rung in at anytime.
Please do not request a home visit if you are able to get to the surgery.
